Our Founder

Niall Couper is a seasoned campaigner, strategist, and communications expert with over two decades of experience in journalism, media, and advocacy. He founded Couper Communications to help mission-driven organisations harness the power of ethical storytelling to drive real, lasting change.

Before launching Couper Communications, Niall spent 10 years as Head of Media, PR, and Supporter Communications for Amnesty International UK.

During his tenure, he led high-impact campaigns that brought global human rights issues to the forefront, earning Amnesty the prestigious In-House PR Team of the Year award in 2019. His work helped shape public discourse, influence policy, and shine a spotlight on urgent issues of justice and freedom.

He is also the CEO of Fair Game, a not-for-profit organisation championing integrity, sustainability, and community in football. Under his leadership, Fair Game has brought together clubs, experts, and stakeholders and successfully advocating for reform in the governance of the game—amplifying voices too often ignored in modern sport.

A former journalist on The Independent’s sports desk, Niall is also the author of two acclaimed books, including This Is Our Time: The AFC Wimbledon Story — a powerful account of how fans rebuilt their football club from the ground up. The book celebrates resilience, community spirit, and the power of collective action in sport. It was longlisted for Sports Book of the Year. Deeply committed to supporter-led football, Niall played a key role in the foundation of AFC Wimbledon and continues to champion reforms that prioritise people over profit.

Passionate about social justice, Niall only works with organisations that share his values and his belief in building a fairer, more equitable world. Whether it’s navigating a media crisis, launching a national campaign, or helping an organisation find its voice, Niall brings strategic clarity, creative insight, and deep commitment to every cause he supports.
